Global economic development is rapidly developing world trade. A very important part of world trade is carried out by sea, and the developments in world and maritime trade are parallel to each other. National economies are increasingly dependent on efficient maritime transport. This situation leads countries to strengthen their maritime trade fleets and creates a shortage of trained manpower in this field. Especially ship machinery and maintenance is the department with the highest employment gap in this field due to its high costs and the need for specialized labor. The delays that will occur in the ship's route and the high compensations paid due to the failures that occur at the heart of the ship make this area very valuable.
Meeting the workforce needs in the field of ship machinery; It will be possible with training investments in these fields and a competent training to be given to students who are trained in the field of ship machinery.
Online resources should be provided for children studying in vocational schools to take a more active role. A real-time interactive laboratory simulation program will be developed by our project partners. This program includes application simulation, theories, procedures, and areas where student observations can be noted. The simulation will include common workshop materials.
With the digital training contents to be created in the field of ship machinery of the maritime industry, the sustainability of vocational education in distance education models will be ensured, coaching support will be provided, an interactive environment such as in-class experiments and applied projects will be created, success will be increased with individual monitoring, and a student-centered education process in distance vocational education will be provided. In line with the needs analysis carried out in this context, students from the maritime sector / ship machinery field were determined as our target audience. The training content to be obtained will be digital transformation preparation and the trainings in this field will make great contributions in terms of ship machinery control and preventive maintenance services.
